Capitol Hill Update: Politically-correct Navy Just as Bad as U.S. Army

It was only two weeks ago when the Capitol Hill Update on Christian Coalition of America's website blasted the United States Army in a posting entitled "Derelict Army generals need to prosecute in murder of unborn child" and prior to that, a posting on Veterans Day entitled:  "No General Casey:  12 of your dead soldiers trumps 'diversity.'"  These postings followed the assassination of 14 Americans at Ft. Hood, Texas  --  by the radical Islamic terrorist, Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan  --  including 12 soldiers, an unborn baby, and an Army civilian.

The United States Army had coddled this terrorist for almost a decade throughout all of his anti-American and radical Islamic rantings.  Now, we discover the United States Navy is going down the same route as the Army as part of the Obama-led government's outreach to the Islamic world.

The Navy is court-martialing three Navy Seals (Petty Officer Matthew McCabe, Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe and Petty Officer Julio Huertas) who supposedly roughed up one of the world's most wanted terrorists by the name of Ahmed Hashim Abed.

Columnist Jeffrey T. Kuhner in Sunday's "The Washington Times" wrote that the terrorist Abed, is the mastermind of the 2004 infamous war crime in the Iraqi city of Fallujah.  Abed had ordered the assassination of four Blackwater USA security guards.  Mr. Kuhner writes:  "These security guards  --  all of them Americans  --  were slaughtered in an ambush, their bodies then burned and mutilated as they were dragged throught the streets of Fallujah.  Two were later hanged from a bridge over the Euphrates River, dangling from a noose to the world press could photograph them."

The Navy Seals are being accused of treating this despicable human being, Islamic terrorist Ahmed Hashim Abed, in a manner  --  described by Mr. Kuhner  --  as "equivalent of what hockey players regularly do:  smack somebody in the mouth."  Indeed, the Navy Seals may not even had laid a hand on terrorist Abed.

Mr. Kuhner quoted in his column the ridiculous and appalling statement made by the Army Chief of Staff, General George W. Casey, Jr. after the slaughter of the 14 victims at Ft. Hood:  "Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength.  And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse."

Mr. Kuhner replies:  "No, it isn't. What is worse is how the virus of political correctness has infected our military - to the point, where our Islamic outreach efforts have descended into the theater of the absurd.  Diversity is not our strength; unity is - unity of purpose, will and commitment. We used to know that."

The major reason why the military services, like the Army and the Navy, have become breeding grounds for political correctness is that a large number of the generals and admirals reaching the top ranks have been consumed by opportunism and are very willing to surrender to the politically-correct directives of their civilian bosses.

It is long past time for the top leadership of the military services to think more about the welfare of their soldiers, sailors and airmen under their command than caving-in to the latest left-wing policies by their political bosses.
