GOP President tells Israel P.M. that he’ll “bomb Syria to kingdom come after my last election”

What a media firestorm that would be.

In the spring of 2004, President George W. Bush was unknowingly caught by an open microphone telling the Israeli Prime Minister in a private meeting that if Israel would hold off on bombing Syria’s nuclear weapons facility, the United States would “bomb Syria to Kingdom come right after my last election” that November.  A lengthy firestorm of protest came from the John Kerry presidential campaign and the liberal media supporting Kerry.

That did not happen.

However, in real life this week at the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul, Korea, Barack Obama was caught conspiring with the Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev  --  not knowing that there was a live microphone recording their each and every word.  President Medvedev agreed to transmit Obama’s message to the newly-elected Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

Obama told Medvedev yesterday that “This is my last election, and after my election I have more flexibility.”  Medvedev told Obama in response, “I understand.  I will transmit this information to Vladimir.”  Obama was also caught saying to Medvedev, “On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him (Putin) to give me space.”  Medvedev replied, “I understand your message about space.  Space for you….”

Is there any doubt after Obama’s dismal track record of undermining America’s and Europe’s missile defense shield since the beginning of his administration, that Obama was effectively telling Medvedev and Putin that he would surrender America’s great missile defense advantage and any kind of missile shield over Europe, most especially in Poland and the Czech Republic, if Russia doesn’t give him any trouble until after Obama’s “last election” this November.  What Obama was telling the Russian leaders is that he needed some space from Russia, i.e. no pressure from Putin before the election regarding America’s great missile defense advantage begun by President Ronald Reagan.

Obama has already helped Russia’s security objectives by undermining missile defense security agreements which President George W. Bush negotiated with Europe during his presidency.  “The New York Times” reported on May 22, 2006 that, “The Bush administration is moving to establish a new antimissile site in Europe that would be designed to stop attacks by Iran against the United States and its European allies.  The administration's proposal, which comes amid rising concerns about Iran's suspected program to develop nuclear weapons, calls for installing 10 antimissile interceptors at a European site by 2011.  Poland and the Czech Republic are among the nations under consideration.”

Russia fought the Bush administration every step of the way after that 2006 announcement.  Russian desperately wanted to prevent America from establishing a military presence on Poland’s soil, most especially.   Russia’s leaders did not fully realize what a gift the American people gave them by electing Barack Obama.  From the beginning of his administration, Obama has undermined Bush’s missile defense treaty with Poland and the Czech Republic.

“The New York Times” reported on September 18, 2009 that Obama scrapped Bush’s proposed antiballistic missile shield in Eastern Europe:  “In one of the biggest national security reversals of his young presidency, Mr. Obama canceled former President George W. Bush’s plans to station a radar facility in the Czech Republic and 10 ground-based interceptors in Poland.”  Future Speaker of the House John Boehner said in reaction to Obama’s capitulation to Russia, “It shows a willful determination to continue ignoring the threat posed by some of the most dangerous regimes in the world.”

One was reminded of an earlier attempt this month by Obama to get Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold off on bombing Iran nuclear weapons facilities until after Obama’s reelection.  Netanyahu believes that Israel cannot wait until Iran goes past the point of actually making nuclear weapons and a delivery vehicle. The only consideration Obama has is to get himself reelected.  If yesterday’s Obama/Medvedev’s political collusion, at America’s expense, during the National Security Summit in Korea, isn’t enough to rile up the mainstream news media, nothing will.
