The Story of our Flag and National Anthem
Waynes Discernment - July 3, 2010 - 11:56amThe thing that separates the American Christian from every other person on earth is the fact that he would rather die on his feet, than live on his knees! - George Washington

Church and Politics: Has the Christian withdrawl from politics contributed to Obama era Hyper Partisainship?
Waynes Discernment - May 16, 2010 - 10:36pmThere has been weekly is not more frequent accusations of racism and Nazism since Obama became the president. These attacks are unjust and in nearly all cases have no evidence. They are not exposing truth they are creating chaos. They are themselves acts of hatred. They do not bring people together on truth they remove people from participation.
If Jesus were in Washington (I am not suggesting he would be) he would most likely rebuke such hatred. All people have been created in the image of God; if nothing else they deserve respect. Disagreements need to be handled with truth not personal attacks which have no basis in fact.

9.9% unemployment and the difference between wisdom and information.
Waynes Discernment - May 10, 2010 - 12:52pmCross posted on At The Water Cooler
I am not discounting the importance of data or fact that have been processed into information.
The newest data is that unemployment is now at 9.9%; fireandreamitchell.com adds to this information that many of those who have found work have not found sustainable work. Re-quoting, "The government says the hiring of 66,000 temporary government workers to conduct the census helped overall payroll growth last month," from NBC.
During a time of increasing unemployment creating Government jobs seems like a reasonable method to stop unemployment. Keynesian economics, (while being blind to effects of Government employment on private enterprise), goes directly after the symptom of unemployment. The problem is unemployment is not the cause of unemployment. If farmers don't have crops to harvest the solution is not to place produce on the ground to keep the busy. As data shows, merely giving the unemployed something to do at tax payer expense does not turn around the economy. read more »

Obama and Democratic Press poison the well on Immigration reform
Waynes Discernment - May 5, 2010 - 12:45pmCross Posted from At The Water Cooler
Any serious improvements on immigration require a change from the status quo of only enforcing immigration laws on points of entry. It is not equal justice to have one set of laws at entry points and a different set of laws for those who evade legal points of entry. It is not equal justice when one group of people are allowed to break laws. Nor is it even social justice when because of circumstances beyond their control, the elderly and the weak are discriminated against because they do not have the physical endurance to hike around a legal point of entry or the money to exploit a corrupt method of illegal entry.
Obama has set the tone to one that locks in the status quo.
Any the democratic press has taken to calling those who want a governed immigration system, which is the only way to have a fair system, as Nationalist.

Excuse me, Are you Jesus?
Waynes Discernment - April 22, 2010 - 3:55pmThis post is labeled to be shared from Patriotic Resistance
This is really powerful and makes one think!!!!
A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding. ALL BUT ONE !!! He paused, took a deep breath, and experienced a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned.
He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye, told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the terminal floor.
He was glad he did.
The 16 year old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd swirled about her, no one stopping and no one to care for her plight. read more »

Out of the frying pan - overshooting opposition to statism landing in anarchy - Legalizing Marijuana

Big Government has a post today by Kristen Davis Why I Support Legalizing Marijuana Now
Many of the responsibilities of Government has been miss governed. Immigration is in a state of SNAFU. Legal immigration is in such state that it is nearly impossible - literally near the point that legal immigrants are sympathetic to illegal immigrants. The war on drugs has turned into a way to raise revenue to the state by taking possessions - they even threaten to take money from attorneys who receive money for a legal defense and its application is not limited to cases where drug money is involved. What Kristen Davis states, "stuffed our prisons full of nonviolent people and saddled our state with outlandish incarceration costs for decades," is true to add to that prison has never cured an alcoholic and prison will never cure somebody addicted to another substance - but should we give up on these people? or actually try something different to give them a 2nd chance.
Overshooting the failed Government efforts - if one were cynical they would say failed on purpose - can create problems as big as the failed Government efforts. read more »

Say a lie enough times and others will repeat it.

The title is playing with the saying "repeat a lie enough times and others will believe it." Many times these repeated lies are based on fallacies, which until they start to be repeated are ignored. These lies do not solve problems - it is often not clear when they are lies that will vanish because of how foolish they are or if they need a response.
Some of these lies which I am thinking about in this post fall into a group, which belong to a group called stereo typing. They are nonsense so they are dismissed the first time around - but become hideous when picked up by those who fail to see the fallacy - those who are tricked by the deception.
Take for example "It is racist to not support universal health care." The statement is hideous in multiple ways.
It is apparent that the statement is intended to put a chill on those who don't support universal health care. Christians do not want to be seen as racist, or seen as stereo typing a population. The intent of the statement is to silence people by raising the level of the rhetoric to a level of verbal violence. I for one take Jesus at his word that if you hate your brother without cause you have committed murder in your heart (Matthew 5:22). read more »

Prayer Regarding Coffee Party Sabotaging – Stereotyping a group of people by actions of one is evil
Waynes Discernment - April 13, 2010 - 11:56amI could find a person who self identifies himself with any type of group or race; Christian, Catholic, Baptist - Democrat, Republican - White, Black - American, Mexican ... And find an action that is objectionable. The Good book tells us all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God - If I could see into the heart of members of a group I could find something objection in every member.
With God's help we can overcome sin and every time we do get closer to God - understand God better - grow in our lives and our relationships with other people. When we overcome sin we no longer plant sin and no longer reap it.
Crash the tea party is planning to Sabotage those who care enough about their fellow citizens to sacrifice their time in an attempt to make those in power hear the grievances of the people.

April 15th – Is day you pay for The State's Social Justice good works.

Sacrifice, not money is what Jesus did for us; is what he taught us. He chased the merchants out of the temple. People were buying their "sacrifice" from these merchants. Jesus was angered, this was not what God has in mind when he calls us to sacrifice and to charity. It is not what he has in mind with the word faith.
4 Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely; is not puffed up;
5 Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void, or tongues shall cease, or knowledge shall be destroyed.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away....
13 And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.
Do we lack the faith that the body of Christ can help the poor and now place faith in big Government to take care of those in need? Do we cast our burden on big Government? read more »
