Congressman Walker on Oversight Committee and Judiciary Committee Request for Special Counsel to Review FISA Abuse

"Oversight and review is needed to ensure the protection of Americans’ civil liberties and to stop disregard for our Constitution."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mark Walker (R-N.C.) released the following statement after House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy called for the appointment of a Special Counsel to investigate Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) abuse at the Department of Justice:

"It is evident there are abuses going on in our FISA court and the surveillance of American citizens. Chairman Gowdy and Chairman Goodlatte are right to call for a special counsel to investigate potential violations of our essential Fourth Amendment protection. Oversight and review is needed to ensure the protection of Americans’ civil liberties and to stop disregard for our Constitution."

Walker serves as a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
