From Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC)

November 17, 2009 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement:

"Let's be clear: Any senator who votes to proceed to this bill is voting for a government takeover of health care. Senators who hide behind procedure and claim they just want to allow for debate are not being honest, they are trying to deceive their voters while helping to pass this terrible bill that will make health care more expensive.

"Earlier today, Democrat leaders told reporters that the Senate may vote to proceed to a shell bill, not related to health care reform, in an effort to grant the President's wish for a government takeover of our nation's health care by Christmas. These outrageous shell games won't fool Americans. Voters will remember who stands up for their freedom and who stands with the special interests who want to ram through this takeover."

"President Obama and Democrats have now put forward at least four different versions of their government takeover, and Harry Reid has been secretly working behind closed doors on the fifth act of this fiasco. But despite the nuances, every Democrat bill puts Washington in control of health care, slashes Medicare coverage for seniors, raises premiums for families, raises taxes, places bureaucrats between patients and doctors, punishes young adults who choose not to buy coverage, and opens the door to government rationing of care.  read more »

Democrat Congressman Bart Stupak: A Persevering Hero

There was a wonderful and poignant picture of pro-life champion, Congressman Bart Stupak, Democrat from Michigan, in Sunday's "The Washington Times," a photo taken above the congressman from a balcony in the U.S. Capitol Building - which shows him walking all by himself, looking like all the problems of the world were on his shoulders.  The photo was so symbolic of Congressman Stupak's lonely, gallant, courageous and finally, successful fight to protect generations of America's unborn children from death.    read more »

AARP Sued for Deception

AARP Sued for Deception

The AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons, has flip-flopped, misrepresented themselves, and, let's call it accurately, lied.  They claim to be an advocate for senior citizens, the retired and elderly, watching out for their interests, when in reality their only interest is in helping the Marxists take over America.

The membership dues they take from thousands upon thousands of seniors plus the kickbacks they receive from recommending insurance companies and medications keeps them in the Billion dollar range, which is used to further the far left agenda of socialism.

They have stated publicly that they do NOT back Obama's Health Care Plan (this is all on video tape) even though they were behind the scenes giving the Obama Administration all the support and finances they needed. Then recenlty they acknowledged (just before the vote), that yes, THEY BACKED the healthkill plan, a plan where health care will be rationed to the elderly. (See stories of AARP on this website and by going to: www.revaustinmiles.com)

Then, today, The National Law Journal Legal Times published the story below of a couple suing AARP for deception and misrepresentation, revealing even more AARP corruption.....selling medical plans!

Victims of Liberalism

President Obama has signed a hate crime bill, while simultaneously making America a more vulnerable nation. The new hate crime bill "piggy backed" on legislation that further weakened our sovereignty by killing plans for new weapons and war spending. America, pay attention this bill is a microcosm of liberal planning, President Obama rides on the Luxury that previous Presidents afforded him, by building the most powerful nation on Earth. The next US leader will be left to pick up the unpopular pieces of securing this nation.
The new measure expands currant hate crime laws by including violence based on gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. AP reports the defense part of the bill that wasn't cut, was a "must pass"; so republicans who realized that this legislation was an attack on free speech caved in to typical Washington politics, in order to get the defense dollars. **Hope and Change**
There is always a reason why a crime is committed, jealousy, greed, psychotic tendencies, hate, none of them are valid and all of them should be punishable by the appropriate measure. Our far left President and his ilk believe that victims of a crime are more important if they subscribe to a liberal lifestyle. If I get assaulted for my belief in Jesus Christ and his teachings it is now a lesser crime than a man who gets assaulted for believing he should have sex with other men.  read more »

Political Roundup: 11-5-09

Interesting tid-bits in the wake of Tuesday's election...

Election already having consequences for Obamacare?

Maybe.  The Hill reports that Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton (D-Mo.) on Wednesday indicated that he was opposed to the House version of Obamacare: "I oppose the creation of a new government-run public option and continue to have serious concerns about its unintended consequences for Missourians who have private insurance plans they like. I remain concerned about the bill's impact on rural hospitals and doctors."   The dominoes may be starting to fall.

Super stimulus...saves more jobs than actually exist!

Beware all ye who doubt the power of the super stimulus.  The Associated Press documents the proof.

President Barack Obama's economic recovery program saved 935 jobs at the Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, an impressive success story for the stimulus plan. Trouble is, only 508 people work there.  read more »

Capitol Hill Update: Obama's Broken "Transparency" Promise

Candidate Barack Obama frequently promised the American people that his government would be the most transparent and open-to-public-scrutiny than any other presidential administration. He promised that the negotiations for his health care bill would be seen live on national television broadcast by C-SPAN.  Needless to say, he broke that promise.

He promised that the American people could see if lobbyists had any influence on his negotiations.  Indeed, he promised lobbyists would have no place in his administration, but instead the Obama administration is well-populated with lobbyists. "The Washington Times" reported yesterday that Candidate Obama promised during a Democrat debate in January last year:  "If the drug companies or a member of Congress who's carrying water for the drug companies wants to argue that we should not negotiate for the cheapest available price on drugs, then I want them to make that argument in front of the American people."  These promises by Obama have all been broken.     read more »

Capitol Hill Update: Will the Abortion Issue Kill Obamacare?

Pro-life Democrat leader Bart Stupak, the courageous Congressman from Michigan, has been fighting a gallant many-month battle to have health care reform legislation absolutely guarantee that Americans' tax dollars will not be used for the abominable practice of abortion.  So far, it has been a losing battle.  The vote on Obamacare is expected in the House of Representatives in early November.

Countless non-partisan authorities have confirmed that the five bills being considered in Congress  --  3 in the House of Representatives and 2 in the U.S. Senate, where only on Republican, Olympia Snowe from Maine, voted for only the Obamacare bill coming out of the Senate Finance Committee  --  will allow taxpayer funding for abortions.  Each of these bills are not subject to the Hyde amendment  --  authored by the late Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Henry Hyde  --  which ensured that no abortions, except to save the life of the mother and rape/incest abortions (less than 2% of all abortions) would be funded with tax dollars.    read more »

Democrat on Health Care: "We're Going to Let You Die"

"We're going to let you die."

As incredible as it may sound, those are the words of Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton, in a speech given two years ago whose premise was "what a Democrat presidential candidate would say if he wasn't worried about getting elected".

You don't say.

His remarks were caught on audio, (much to the chagrin of those pushing Obamacare right now), and you can listen to them by clicking the "video" below.  A transcript of his comments is posted below as well, (via WSJ).

It's interesting how, as you listen to his comments, you can see how much of what he says looks an awful lot like some of the elements of (and logical consequences of) current Democrat health care proposals.

Enjoy... and pass it on!

Capitol Hill Update: Republicans' Alternative to Obama's Socialized Medicine

As the Senate Financial Services Committee votes today (Tuesday) on legislation which isn't even a lawful bill  --  only a set of universal health care concepts which the now-discredited Congressional Budget Office scored under 1 TRILLION dollars  --  which includes huge tax increases disguised as fees and levies, and nearly a half trillion dollars in Medicare cuts, Americans need to be reminded that the "elite" news media has had a virtual black-out on the Republican alternatives to Obamacare.  All versions of Obamacare in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate are intended to lead to a single-payer system or more accurately a European-style and Canadian-style socialized medicine system.

Left-wingers in the White House and in the Democrat-controlled Congress and their "Old Media" allies angrily attack the incredible backlash by the American people to Obamacare which has occurred during the past few months and complain that the Republicans have not offered up an alternative.  This of course is yet another lie.  Think Congressman Joe Wilson's comment, "You lie" during the president's September address desparately seeking passage of his Obamacare.    read more »
