Obamacare
From Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC)
Rev Wm Jenkins - November 17, 2009 - 7:04pmNovember 17, 2009 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement:
"Let's be clear: Any senator who votes to proceed to this bill is voting for a government takeover of health care. Senators who hide behind procedure and claim they just want to allow for debate are not being honest, they are trying to deceive their voters while helping to pass this terrible bill that will make health care more expensive.
"Earlier today, Democrat leaders told reporters that the Senate may vote to proceed to a shell bill, not related to health care reform, in an effort to grant the President's wish for a government takeover of our nation's health care by Christmas. These outrageous shell games won't fool Americans. Voters will remember who stands up for their freedom and who stands with the special interests who want to ram through this takeover."
"President Obama and Democrats have now put forward at least four different versions of their government takeover, and Harry Reid has been secretly working behind closed doors on the fifth act of this fiasco. But despite the nuances, every Democrat bill puts Washington in control of health care, slashes Medicare coverage for seniors, raises premiums for families, raises taxes, places bureaucrats between patients and doctors, punishes young adults who choose not to buy coverage, and opens the door to government rationing of care. read more »

Democrat on Health Care: "We're Going to Let You Die"
Capitol Notebook - October 15, 2009 - 11:42am"We're going to let you die."
As incredible as it may sound, those are the words of Robert Reich, former Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton, in a speech given two years ago whose premise was "what a Democrat presidential candidate would say if he wasn't worried about getting elected".
You don't say.
His remarks were caught on audio, (much to the chagrin of those pushing Obamacare right now), and you can listen to them by clicking the "video" below. A transcript of his comments is posted below as well, (via WSJ).
It's interesting how, as you listen to his comments, you can see how much of what he says looks an awful lot like some of the elements of (and logical consequences of) current Democrat health care proposals.
Enjoy... and pass it on!

Obamacare
Maxwell Muskrat - October 13, 2009 - 11:01amFor many of us, who grew up in the 40's and 50's, and who have watched the downward slide of America and American culture over the past 4 or 5 decades, today is a pivotal day, as the Senate faces a vote on Obamare, and hardly a happy day. To not realize the dangers of our current position as a nation is to not know history. Too many Americans today do not know history, especially those in positions of power, and they are therefore doomed to repeat many of the worst things. And, unfortunately, because the rest of us slept through a long series of elections, and did not do enough to change the directior, we are doomed to repeat it with them.
We slept through those elections, and avoided the night meetings, and policy debates that the more liberal among us relished, and lined up to attend. Slowly, deliberately, they have eroded our democracy, as if by a million paper cuts, and we allowed them to do it. We did not get alarmed because we were afraid of "making waves" and being accused of a long list of political insensitivities. So we, the silent (but still very strong) majority said nothing, and did nothing, for fear of being called bigoted, racist, or worse. We kept our heads in the sand, and now we are being called bigoted, racist, or worse ANYWAY. This time, just for objecting to what we consider to be empty-headed POLICIES, and LEGISLATION. read more »

Video: Kids Singing for Obamacare on CNN
Drew McKissick - October 8, 2009 - 12:34pmThis whole using kids as props / tools for Obama (and Obamacare) is really getting out of hand... (By the way, I'm sure CNN "fact-checked" these kids song, just like they did the SNL skit that lampooned Obama).

We must do more
rstevens212 - October 5, 2009 - 12:20pmIt is not enough to contact the blue dog Democrats. This will only result in a scaled-back bill, which leads us toward socialized medicine a little more incrementally. Remember, the bills under discussion give huge authority to government bureaucrats to pass regulations. So even if the "public option" and health care rationing are explicitly in the bill, they will be put into regulations, with the same result.
It is essential that we defeat ANY bill. The only way to do that is to make it absolutely clear to our representatives that they will be voted out of office if they support it. There is a good, simple website where we can individually pledge to vote out anyone who does not fight against these bills: www.PledgeOfLiberty.com I urge you to take the pledge, and spread the word, and also to write to your representatives.

Video: Obama's Own Words About the Demise of Private Insurance
Capitol Notebook - October 2, 2009 - 1:23pmJust in case you've forgotten what Obama himself has had to say about the "public option" and private insurance. And remember, this is the same guy who wants us to believe him when he tells us that, under his plan, "if you like your insurance, you can keep it".

Will you be able to keep your doctor under Obamacare?
Capitol Notebook - October 2, 2009 - 12:25pmOver and over, as he's worked to promote his idea of healthcare "reform", Obama has stated that, "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor", and various other versions of the same statement. The point being to give people the idea that, if they like what they currently have, his reforms won't impact them.
The only trouble is it's not true, for a whole host of reasons, (not the least of which is the details of the bill, or just plain old market dynamics...).
To clear up this issue, there's a neat flowchart out now which gives you a better idea of the reality of the situation.

The vindication of Joe Wilson?
Capitol Notebook - September 29, 2009 - 3:04pmWell, well, well...
It looks like some apologies might be due in Joe Wilson's direction if certain Democrats have their way.
Why is that? Because after months of denying there would be a move to add illegal aliens to any government subsidized health care, the mask came off this week as Democrats moved to specifically include illegal aliens in the pending health care bills.
A large group of House Democrats are working to amend the House healthcare bill to specifically include subsidized coverage for illegal aliens. And the radical group LaRaza is calling on its members to contact Senators and "flood their voicemail" telling them to do the same - and drop any mandatory citizenship verification for coverage.
And they're in a hurry too.
They just rejected a Republican proposal to have at least three days to review a final bill - and they stopped a proposal to actually have the bill written out in legislative language BEFORE it gets voted on.
What they want is clear. They want to ramrod an end-product that will be full-blown, government run "Obamacare" - which will include illegal aliens.
During August conservatives brought tremendous pressure on Congress. And support for government run healthcare is at an all time low. read more »

Capitol Notebook - September 29, 2009 - 12:20pmA few interesting items...
US not acting like leader of the "free" world anymore
The Washington Times uses the example of speeches at the UN General Assembly last week to point out that Israel is looking more and more like the leader of the "free" world, while what it calles the "previous leader" (the US) has resigned it's role and decided to act more like a "global community organizer". From the article:
...This was made plain by President Obama in his speech, titled "Responsibility for Our Common Future," in which he heralded "a new chapter of international cooperation." By contrast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a blunt and forceful call to action in the central challenge facing free people today. This is the struggle of "civilization against barbarism" being fought by "those who sanctify life against those who glorify death." ...
It would be nice to hear our own President use that kind of language.
