Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and top Democrats are now in the process of trying to twist enough arms in the House and Senate to railroad the pro-abortion health care bill through Congress. The vote-gathering process is derided by some Republicans as a mission of political suicide because it is so unpopular.

Democrats are bent on using the controversial reconciliation process to get the bill approved.

That's where they use a procedural trick normally reserved for important bills funding the federal government that prohibits a filibuster in the Senate -- where Democrats would otherwise not have the 60 votes needed to get the bill approved...

(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told President Barack Obama to his face at Thursday's health care summit that the president's new health care proposal, which is based on the bill approved by the Senate, would allow taxpayer-funding of health plans that cover abortion. The president did not respond directly to Boehner's direct charge, but suggested that all that Boehner said was merely the "standard talking points" and Democrats would "profoundly disagree" with many of them.

Boehner also criticized the president's plan for creating "a new entitlement program that will bankrupt our country" and "an employer mandate ... that says that employers, you've got to provide health insurance to the American people, or you're going to pay this tax."

John Boehner told President Barack Obama that Americans don't want abortion funding in the health care bill Congress is considering.

Boehner is the top Republican in the House who has been one of the leaders in the pressing the abortion case against the health care bill.

He had hoped Obama would invite Rep. Bart Stupak, the leading pro-life Democrat whose amendment stopped abortion funding in the House version of the bill, that will likely be scrapped in favor of the pro-abortion Senate version...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- With President Barack Obama and top Republicans and Democrats meeting at the White House health care summit, Americans have a clear attitude towards the pro-abortion health care bill and the attempt by Obama and his allies to use reconciliation to pass it: they oppose both.

In a new CNN poll released today, just 25 percent of Americans say Congress should pass the Senate health care bill that contains massive abortion funding and other pro-abortion problems.

Another 48 percent say Congress should start over on an entirely new bill while another 25 percent say Congress should stop working on the issue of health care altogether.

A majority of Republicans questioned, 54 percent, want Congress to start from scratch while 40 percent say Congress should start over and only 6 percent want the current pro-abortion health care bill.  read more »

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- President Barack Obama invited top Republicans and Democrats to the White House for a health care summit tomorrow that is unlikely to produce any results. Democrats see the summit as a way to appear bipartisan and build support for the struggling pro-abortion health care bill that Republicans oppose.

Republicans, and polls showing a majority of Americans agree, see the summit as a glorified publicity stunt that won't focus on health care reform that doesn't promote abortion and rationing.

Obama didn't help his cause earlier this week, as he unveiled his plan for changes to the existing Senate health care bill that is the bill Democrats are pushing through Congress. Obama left existing abortion funding in place and expanded it elsewhere...

State investigators have shut down a West Philadelphia abortion clinic for the second time in two days.

The investigation was launched after a woman died in November from an excessive amount of pain killers believed to have been administered by an unlicensed staff member at the Women's Medical Society facility. Cheryl Sullinger of Operation Rescue tells OneNewsNow about the grim results.

"When they got into that abortion clinic, they found unsanitary and deplorable conditions, including dried blood on the floor," she shares. "But more horrifically, they found dozens of aborted babies who had been frozen -- and some of those babies [may go back as far as] 30 years."

The state has suspended the license of the abortionist, Kermit Gosnell, declaring him to be "an immediate and clear danger to the public health and safety." Sullinger is grateful for that...

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Congressman Bart Stupak, the Michigan lawmaker whose group of pro-life Democrats could decide the fate of the pro-abortion, government-run health care bill in the House, says he doesn't like the new health care plan President Barack Obama unveiled yesterday because it funds abortions.

With the House barely passing the bill the first time, thanks to votes from Stupak and 10-12 pro-life Democrats who were pleased Stupak's abortion-funding ban was a part of it, where the lawmaker stands is important.

With the Senate bill having no ban, and Obama's plan for changes adding more abortion funding to the mix, Stupak and his colleagues have promised to vote no if the final version of the bill funds abortions, as will likely be the case...

Mike Pence (R-Ind.) earned a standing ovation when he said the United States has a moral obligation to the unborn, and that the time has come to stop funding Planned Parenthood with money from pro-life American taxpayers.

“The largest abortion provider in America should not be the largest recipient of federal funding under Title 10,” Pence said. “The time has come to defund any and all funding to Planned Parenthood of America.”

The moment came near the end of Pence’s remarks after he claimed that President Barack Obama and his administration are “managing the decline of America,” rather than reversing that decline....

However, Obama does not propose any changes to the massive abortion funding.

The current Senate bill contains massive abortion funding that could force taxpayers to fund hundreds of thousands of abortions and it has other pro-abortion problems.
