Obama's base quits blaming Bush
The summer of the discontented voter steams onward and, unfortunately for President Obama, polls show voters are no longer blaming the bad times on the George W. Bush administration.
Add Hispanics to the growing list of Obama supporters disgruntled by aspects of the presidents performance, in what has become for the White House and Democrats a seemingly daily beat of gloomy polls.
Mr. Obama gets only lukewarm ratings on issues important to Hispanics in a Univision/AP poll released Tuesday, and, according to a separate Reuters-Ipsos survey, Americans overwhelmingly believe the president has failed to focus enough on job creation...

Jeb Bush tells President Obama: Stop blaming George W. Bush
Former Florida GOP Gov. Jeb Bush has grown tired of listening to Barack Obama blame his brother, telling the New York Times he finds the president’s behavior “childish.”
In an interview with the paper, Bush said that he has had enough of Obama frequently pointing back to his brother George W. Bush’s tenure to explain economic and budget problems, as well as failed oversight of the oil industry.
“It’s kind of like a kid coming to school saying, ‘The dog ate my homework,’” the former governor said of the president. “It’s childish. This is what children do until they mature. They don’t accept responsibility.”
“He apparently likes to act like he’s still campaigning, and he likes to blame George’s administration for everything,” Bush added...

Obama Less Successful Than ‘Unilateralist’ Bush Was in Pushing U.N. Security Council to Sanction Iran
(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration is playing down the absence of U.N. Security Council unanimity in adopting new sanctions against Iran on Wednesday, attributing three members’ refusal to back the resolution to differences over “timing and tactics.”
Turkey and Brazil voted against resolution 1929, while Lebanon abstained.
For all its supposed unilateralism and unpopularity at the U.N., the Bush administration was twice able to pull off what the current administration has not – a 15 out of 15 vote in the council for sanctions against Tehran. On a third occasion, the Bush administration achieved a 14-0 vote, with one abstention...

Executive order less than lawful?
A lawsuit against a presidential edict to use federal funds for embryonic stem-cell research has gone to an appeals court.
On March 9, 2009, President Obama issued an executive order, rescinding an order from former President George W. Bush that prohibited federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research. Steven H. Aden of the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) argued in court that the Obama administration is violating federal law.
"In the Dickey/Wicker Amendment, Congress prohibited federal funding for destructive embryonic stem-cell research," the attorney explains. "That didn't matter to the Obama administration, which issued the executive order allowing the funding of research on lines that had been derived from the destruction of human embryos"...

Romney to Obama: Stop Blaming Others for Failure
Washington (CNSNews.com) – Saying that America is not better off than it was $1.8 trillion ago, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said President Obama should stop blaming his predecessor and the American people for high unemployment and growing deficit and failure of the Democratic health care overhaul proposal.
“When it comes to pinning the blame, let’s pin the blame on the donkey,” Romney told a supportive crowd at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), in reference to the Democratic mascot.
Romney is expected to once again seek the GOP presidential nomination in 2012. He failed to win enough conservative support in 2008 because of having taken liberal positions on abortion, gun control and other matters before taking conservative positions on those issues when he campaigned in the Republican primary.
But Romney was on friendly turf, having won three previous CPAC straw polls. The straw poll gauges the presidential preference of CPAC attendees. read more »

Catholic Pro-Life Group Presents President Bush Award for Opposing Abortions
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A national Catholic business group is slated to present an award to former President George W. Bush tonight honoring him for his lengthy record combating abortions during his administration. The event will also see Legatus honoring Cardinal Francis George and hearing from Newt Gingrich.
Bush will receive the prestigious Cardinal John J. O’Connor Pro-Life Award because Legatus says Bush was consistent in his promotion of the pro-life ethic as president.
"You could argue that he was the most pro-life president in our lifetime," the group's executive director, John Hunt, told Zenit today.
"He is very deserving, and since he is coming to us, we wanted to use this as an opportunity to tell him in a very specific and tangible way how appreciative we are," Hunt added...
'Blame Bush' Strategy Wears Thin as Obama Enters Second Year
One year into his administration, President Obama might want to consider dropping the "blame Bush" page from his playbook.
Whether it's the economy, national security or America's reputation abroad, the president and his top advisers have been pinning the blame on the prior administration, directly or obliquely, ever since Obama's inauguration a full year ago. They've done so, in fact, at least seven times since last Tuesday's stunning upset in the Massachusetts Senate election.
While the loss of the late Ted Kennedy's longtime seat forced Democrats to acknowledge shortcomings in persuading Americans to support their health care reform plan, it didn't stop them from continuing to invoke the failings of the George W. Bush administration -- though Obama had just completed his first year in office. read more »

Bush Blamed for Strained Ties as Obama Takes Center Stage at United Nations
(CNSNews.com) – As President Obama prepares to address the United Nations for the first time on Wednesday, the tone has been set by top administration officials who are blaming a disengaged Bush administration for cool relations between the U.S. and the international community.
In a speech previewing this week’s U.N. General Assembly sessions last Friday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton did not once cite the U.N.’s failings or its need for reform as factors in the strained relationship...

Bailout approved: Automakers to get $17.4B
WASHINGTON – Citing danger to the national economy, President Bush approved an emergency bailout of the U.S. auto industry Friday, offering $17.4 billion in rescue loans in exchange for tough concessions from the deeply troubled carmakers and their workers.
The government will have the option of becoming a stockholder in the companies, much as it has with major banks, in effect partially nationalizing the industry...

Congressman Pence to President Bush: No Wall St. bailout cash to automakers
A House Republican leader is urging the Bush administration not to use the remainder of the Wall Street bailout fund for emergency aid to the Big Three automakers.
The White House has said repeatedly that the Wall Street bailout fund should not be used to rescue the automakers because it was designed -- and approved by Congress -- to stabilize the financial sector. However, the White House is considering a change of heart. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says action by President Bush is the "only viable option"...
