Last night, 48 Democrats -- including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama -- and 4 Republicans Refuse to Fund Health Coverage for Unborn Babies from the "moment of conception," an amendment sponsored by Senator Wayne Allard

Last night, Senator Wayne Allard, R-CO, introduced an unborn child amendment to the bloated, pork-filled, and tax-increasing Democrat 2009 Budget bill. The Allard amendment which lost by a margin of 52-46 would require that legislation to authorize SCHIP (children's health care program) include provisions to fund health coverage for unborn babies from the "moment of conception." Republicans overwhelmingly voted for this pro-life amendment and incredibly only 2 Democrats voted to fund health care for unborn babies: Senators Bob Casey - PA and Ben Nelson - NE).

47 Democrat Senators, Joe Lieberman (Independent)and 4 Republican Senators (Susan Collins - ME, Lisa Murkowski - AL, Olympia Snowe - ME, and Arlen Specter - PA) voted "No" on Allard’s health care for unborn children amendment:

Christian Coalition's Michele Combs Testifies Before a House Judiciary Committee Panel on Tuesday in Support of Net Neutrality and the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008," H.R. 5353

In Wednesday's "The Washington Post", it reported that "The Christian Coalition of America is concerned about recent cases where Verizon Wireless temporarily blocked text messages by abortion-rights group Naral Pro-Choice America, and where AT&T censored comments by Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder that were critical of U.S. President George Bush. Vedder's comments were carried in a webcast concert sponsored by AT&T, said Michele Combs, vice president of communications for the coalition. Even though the conservative group doesn't agree with the political positions of Naral Pro-Choice, it is concerned that broadband providers will block other political speech, Combs said. 'Comcast's attempts to slow BitTorrent in some situations could prevent Internet users from downloading copies of the Bible,' Combs added...."

"Congress Daily," on March 12, 2008, said: "Combs' group typically prefers a light touch by government, but in this case, broadband firms are engaging in the same kind of censorship as the Chinese government, she argued." Michele Combs told "E-Commerce Times" that "We are worried about the cables and Bells being discriminatory regarding content on the Internet."

Christian Coalition of America supports H.R. 5353, the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008," authored by conservative Republican Congressman Charles "Chip" Pickering from Mississippi and by Congressman Edward Markey, D-MA.

ACTION ITEM: Please all your Congressman at 202-225-3121 or you can go to http://www.cc.org/contactcongress.cfm and email them and urge them to co-sponsor the Net Neutrality legislation introduced by Republican Congressman Charles "Chip" Pickering and Democrat Congressman Edward Markey called the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008," H.R. 5353.

Senator John Ensign's Amendment to Increase Funding to Enforce Parental Notification Laws Regarding Abortions for Minors Fails Last Night in a Tie Vote: 49-49

Nevada Republican Senator John Ensign's amendment to increase funding for the Department of Justice for the vigorous enforcement of a prohibition against taking minors across State lines in circumvention of laws requiring the involvement of parents in abortion decisions consistent with the Child Custody Protection Act, which passed the Senate by a bipartisan vote of 65-34 failed last night on a tie vote, 49-49. Democrat Senators who voted FOR this amendment were: Bob Casey (PA), Johnson (SD), Landrieu (LA), Ben Nelson (NE), and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nevada.)

All Republicans voted for the Ensign pro-life amendment except for Senators Susan Collins (ME), Olympia Snowe (ME), and Arlen Specter (ME) and incredibly, MISSISSIPPI Republican Thad Cochran voted against this commonsense parental notification pro-life amendment.

Senate Democrats -- Including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama -- Do What They Do Best and Refuse Last Night to Extend President Bush's Tax Cuts, Thus Further Endangering U.S. Economy/Republican Leader McConnell says that Tax Hikes are "Not the Will of the Senate" - Last Week, Democrat-controlled House of Representatives Tried to Raise $60 Billion in NEW Taxes - Final Democrat 2009 Budget Raises Taxes on Low- and Middle-Income Families by an Average of $2,300 per year!

Before it went on its 2-week Easter vacation, the Democrat-controlled Senate --including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama -- yesterday voted against extending President George W. Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for all Americans which are set to expire in 2010, thus imposing on the American people the largest tax INCREASE in American history since Democrat Bill Clinton's huge tax INCREASE during his administration.

Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., introduced an amendment to the FY08 Budget bill to extend President Bush's tax cuts for middle-income and higher-income taxpayers, investors, and those Americans such as farmers and small business people -- who are inheriting businesses and big estates. Senator Graham's amendment was defeated by a margin of 52-47.

The leader of the Senate Republicans, Senator Mitch McConnell, R-KY, said last week that "at a time when the economy is the central concern of the American people, we cannot be talking about raising taxes by tens of billions of dollars.' Indeed, there are no taxes that the Democrat Party does not love. In the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives, liberals are attempting to raise $60 billion in NEW taxes.

The hugely expensive Senate Democrat budget with tremendous tax increases (to begin in 2010) passed on a mostly party line vote, 52-47 with all liberal Democrats voting yes including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY said today following the vote on the 2009 budget which actually raises taxes on lower and middle-income families: "This debate made clear that Congressional Democrats are willing to raise taxes on middle- and lower-income families so they can spend more from Washington.

"Instead of working to increase the size of the family budget, Democrats once again chose to grow the government budget—raising taxes on middle-class American families by an average of $2,300 a year and refusing to reform of the middle-class tax hike known as the AMT. Sadly, this budget does nothing to address the looming entitlement crisis our children will inherit from us.” Here is the link from Republican Leader McConnell's office to how the Senators voted on the final budget last night: http://senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=2&vote=00085

Meanwhile, the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives yesterday passed -- by a margin of 212-207 -- a pork-filled $3 TRILLION budget for 2009. Like the Senate, they are leaving for a 2-week Easter vacation. The liberal Democrats in the House also let most of President Bush's tax cuts which have given America a 6-year economic boom expire in 2010 creating tax INCREASES for lower-income and middle-income families. Not one Republican in the House voted for this gargantuan tax and spend Democrat budget. Only 16 Democrats voted NO to this pork-filled turkey.

ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!

Independent Senator Joe Lieberman and Republican Senator Sam Brownback Introduce Ten Commandments Weekend Resolution Yesterday

United States Senators Sam Brownback, R-KS, and Joe Lieberman (I-CT) yesterday introduced the 10 Commandments Weekend Resolution. Senator Brownback said: "It is important for Americans to remember the importance the Ten Commandments have in our nation. The Ten Commandments are the cornerstone to the faith of millions of Americans of many faith traditions, and are a cornerstone to a fair and just society. We as a nation should take a weekend to reflect on the impact the Ten Commandments have had on the foundation of America’s national life.”

Christian Coalition Activists Need to Encourage 110th Congress to Pass Both "Net Neutrality" and "Multicast/Equal Access" Legislation to Prevent Discrimination Against Religious Broadcasters - Democrat-controlled Congress Expected to Pass "Net Neutrality"

"Multicast/Equal Access" (formerly called "Multicast/Must-carry") will go a long way to preventing discrimination against religious broadcasters. Without a "Multicast/Equal Access" law, the cable and satellite companies would probably not add new Christian channels and the influence of current Christian channels will be diluted.

Join the Christian Coalition’s Judicial Task Force, which is dedicated to ending the obstruction of the President's judicial nominees and ensuring that they ALL receive a fair "up or down" vote by the full Senate

Please sign our petition and join the Judicial Task Force at: http://www.cc.org/taskforce.cfm

Encourage your family, friends and church friends to also sign the petition at our website and to join the Christian Coalition’s Judicial Task Force, which is dedicated to ending the obstruction of the President's judicial nominees and ensuring that they ALL receive a fair "up or down" vote by the full Senate.

There are a number of President Bush's Circuit Court of Appeals' nominees who have not yet received a Senate floor vote. The challenge to confirm President Bush's nominees in a Democrat-controlled Senate will be very difficult and we need your help in doing just that. You will become part of a team of individuals who are committed to being ready on a moment’s notice to take action when obstruction occurs.
