It's Time to Let a Little Sunshine In

For years, Congressman Pete Sessions, Republican from Texas, and Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, and the conservative House Republican Study Committee have been trying to let a little sunshine into the congressional committee proceedings in the United States House of Representatives.

One would think that after campaign promises from both the president and the speaker of the house that the Democrats would conduct the most open and honest White House and House of Representatives in history; that the Democrats would not be fighting the transparency which would be gained by the passage of House Resolution (H.Res. 874.)  The resolution would require that all roll-call votes in House committees be posted on their respective websites within 48 hours of each vote.    read more »

Watch for this Amnesty plan

The "Amnesty Bill" concerning illegal immigration is legislation that is being called a "piece of s&$*" by Rep. John Boehner.  This bill would probably not pass on its own merits so we better be watchful and make sure it's not attached as an ammendment to another piece of legislation we want passed.  Mr. Boehner's assessment of the "Amnesty Bill" is correct, although I would use the word "crap" so I wouldn't be censored.  Following are the major points of this bill, which is being panned as "lousy" even by the liberal media.

Illegal immigrants would be given legal status 24 hours after applying even if background check is not complete - and no one could do a thorough background check in 24 hours.

Taxpayers will pay for immigrants attorneys if they need one.

Illegal immigrants get "temporary" visas that can be renewed indefinitely, making them essentially permanent visas.   Amnesty for gang members.  There are an estimated 30,000 immigrant gang members.  All they have to do is say "I don't want to be a gang member anymore" and their crimes are forgiven.

Taxpayer dollars will be sent to Mexico for programs to encourage Mexicans to stay in Mexico.  That includes money for a Mexican healthplan for Mexicans and money to build schools.    read more »

Morning News Take: Beware-Criminal Organization Under Our Noses

What a joy to awake on this day in history when Peanuts, the masterpiece comic strip created by Charles M. Schultz made its debut in 1950. The wisdom of Charlie Brown has helped guide us through frightening and bizarre times along with Snoopy, his faithful dog. So awake and rejoice!  We especially need the calm and wisdom of Charlie Brown this morning as we come to realize that the most organized criminal organization in America is at work under our very noses.  This blog has gathered the stats of the greatest crime corporation in history. Fasten your seat belts for this one:

There have been many facts and stats on gangs, the Mafia, the Bernie Madoff financial criminals...the list goes on and on....but this flagitious misdemeanant organization of confidence men and women who continually operate openly in our country with impunity and protection is the most despicable of all.

Within this gang: 36 have been accused of spousal abuse ...7 have been arrested for fraud...19 have been accused of writing bad checks...117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses...3 have done time for assault...71 cannot get a credit card due to stiffing people...14 have been arrested on drug-related charges...8 have been arrested for shoplifting...21 currently are defendants in lawsuits...and 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year. The stats continue to climb.   read more »

Capitol Hill Update: Signs of America's Surrender in Afghanistan

Is the Democrat Party getting ready to surrender yet another American ally to our enemies?  There are signs that this could be the case.  In today's "The Washington Times," a front-page story has the headline:  "Will Army brass get day in Congress?"  The article says that the Republicans in Congress are eager to help Obama's generals in the Pentagon receive a troop surge in Afghanistan which the generals need to successfully win the war.

The question of the year is, will the president listen to his generals and give them the extra troops needed for victory in Afghanistan?  Obama's hero, Republican President Abraham Lincoln, listened to his generals, especially Ulysses S. Grant, and won the Civil War.

Considering the track record of the anti-war majority faction in the Democrat Party, victory against our enemies in Afghanistan does not look promising.  The anti-war Democrat majority in the early 1970's forced a surrender to America's communist enemies in South Vietnam.  This same anti-war faction almost caused America to surrender in Iraq just a few years ago, but President George W. Bush listened to his generals and gave them the troop "surge" they requested and the war in Iraq has been won.    read more »

Coalition Guest Commentary - Rep. Michele Bachmann: Federal ACORN Funding Cutoffs Must Be More than Political Posturing

Two weeks ago, the AP reported that acting under a tip from ACORN, authorities in Florida have arrested 11 individuals accused of falsifying hundreds of voter applications during a registration drive last year. According to the press report, "the suspects collectively turned in about 1,400 registration cards, of which 888 were later found to be faked."

While this was certainly a smart move on ACORN's part to assist in this criminal investigation, this controversial organization is far too often implicated in these falsified voter registration activities.  read more »

Capitol Hill Update: Will Blue Dog Democrats Save Obama From Himself?

The Republicans are now in a win-win situation regarding Obamacare which is now called the "Edward M. Kennedy Memorial Health Care Reform Act" or nicknamed "ObamaTeddyCare".  The Democrat leadership in Congress - cynical as ever- are trying to increase support for their deader-than-a-door-nail Obamacare and are taking advantage of Senator Kennedy's death by renaming this disastrous bill.

George Stephanopoulos, of ABC's Sunday morning talk show, told Laura Ingraham on Bill O'Reilly's show last night that Kennedy's death won't make that much difference in the health care debate.  Stephanopoulos said if anything passes this year, it will have to be a scaled-back bill.     read more »

Geithner Asks Congress to Increase Federal Debt Limit

Washington -- U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner asked Congress to increase the $12.1 trillion debt limit on Friday, saying it is "critically important" that they act in the next two months.

Mr. Geithner, in a letter to U.S. lawmakers, said that the Treasury projects that the current debt limit could be reached as early mid-October. Increasing the limit is important to instilling confidence in global investors, Mr. Geithner said.

The Treasury didn't request a specific increase in the letter...

Stealing America

As our Supreme Court awaits the inevitable implementation of left wing social activist Sotomayor, I ask myself, "How much of this can we take? They are stealing America." This tragedy is not unlike a violent car crash; your in the drivers seat, gripping the wheel, the tires are screeching, your life flashes before your eye's, and no matter which way you pull the wheel your still being sucked straight into a giant Oak tree. Earlier this week, President Obama unjustly implied that the Cambridge police officer who arrested his friend, did so out of racial motivation, then the President convinced us that we were making a big fuss over nothing when it was proven that he was dead wrong.  read more »

Death Tax Needs to Die

In this Obama big-spending, high-taxing socialist era, at least one Republican in the United States House of Representatives is fighting back. The Chairman of the House Values Action Team, Congressman Joe Pitts, R-PA, introduced a bill last week which would permanently repeal the death tax, which liberals call the estate tax. What the Pitts' legislation will accomplish will be to allow family-owned farms and small businesses to remain in the hands of the families which inherit them.

Congressman Pitts said regarding his "Permanent Repeal of the Death Tax Act," H.R. : "Death should not be a taxable event. It is family-owned farms and small businesses who suffer the most from this unjust tax because these people pass down the business or the farm in the family. But the death tax can force farms and small businesses to sell assets just to satisfy the tax authorities.  read more »

FOCA coming "sooner, rather than later" Democrat says

“Sooner, rather than later.”  That’s when a leading Democrat in Congress says they will introduce the radical pro-abortion “Freedom of Choice Act” – a bill which would overturn all current state and federal restrictions on abortion.  No more waiting periods.  No more parental consent.  No more ban on partial-birth abortions.

When President Obama was campaigning for President, he let it be known in no uncertain terms what his position was on abortion.  Within minutes of taking the Oath of Office, the official White House website was changed to add language supporting pro-abortion policies.  Obama has appointed numerous liberals from pro-abortion organizations like Emily’s List and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) to critical positions in the government.  read more »
