Laurens, S.C. – Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) issued the following statement regarding the South Carolina General Assembly’s vote to pass the South Carolina Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act:
“I am so thankful and proud of the South Carolina General Assembly for stepping up and passing the fetal heartbeat bill today. Protecting the unborn is one of the most important issues of our time. This legislation will literally save lives by banning abortions in South Carolina once a fetal heartbeat is detected. While the passage of this bill marks a critical milestone in the fight to protect the fundamental right to life, there is still much work to be done on both the state and federal levels. As my former colleagues in the General Assembly continue this important fight in Columbia, I will continue to support their efforts in the courts and champion other pro-life policies in Washington. What a great day for South Carolina and for the unborn.”
