WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Rick Scott released the below statement following the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which showed inflation continued to rise in November increasing 9.6% over the year, a significant increase from 8.6% the month prior, and the highest year-over-year PPI reading ever recorded. Senator Scott is demanding President Joe Biden address the impact of his reckless spending, like the $3 trillion Build Back Broke plan, and unconstitutional mandates which are fueling his inflation crisis and massive supply chain disruptions across America.
Senator Rick Scott said, “Another month of Biden’s reign means another month of rising inflation. Inflation is a vicious tax on working families that eats income. Even my home state of Florida, known for its low-cost living, is not safe from Biden’s inflation crisis. Tampa experienced the highest inflation out of any major city last month. It is absolutely outrageous that while families across America struggle to make ends meet and put food on the table, Biden wants to throw gasoline on a raging inflation crisis with more reckless spending. I watched my mom struggle with rising prices when I was growing up and I know just how hard inflation can be on a family when every penny counts. Biden must be out of his mind if he thinks adding another three trillion dollars to the national debt is going to help his inflation problem. Today’s PPI report cannot be ignored. We must kill the Democrats’ reckless tax-and-spending spree before their dangerous socialist agenda hurts even more hardworking families.”
According to today’s PPI release, price increases over the year in November included:
- Home heating oil: +108.6%
- Gasoline: +102.2%
- Cooking oils: +43.6%
- Beef and veal: +40.6%
- Grains: +38.4%
