WASHINGTON— This week, Congressman Chip Roy (TX-21) introduced the Restoring Military Focus Act, an effort to push back against the Democrats’ politicization of the Department of Defense and to eliminate the unnecessary progressive agenda being pushed by the left that undermines the United States military.
This bill will repeal Sec. 913 of the FY21 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), eliminating the positions of Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Advisors for Diversity and Inclusion, and prohibit the use of federal funds to establish these positions in the future.
“The Department of Defense’s top priority should be to develop our men and women in the Armed Forces into a united, lethal, and battle-ready force primed to defend the United States’ interests at a moment’s notice. Instead, the Defense Department has allocated tax-payer dollars to support Chief Diversity Officers tasked to establish ‘training in diversity dynamics’ and ‘evaluations and assessments of diversity.’” Congressman Roy continued “We need to stop the politicization of the Department of Defense and keep our Armed Forces focused on their goal of defending our national security. The Restoring Military Focus Act is an important and necessary step to push back against the progressive agenda at the Department of Defense.”

The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) recently reinstated their Chief Diversity Officer to lead the organization’s diversity and inclusion programs after he made controversial social media comments.
The Restoring Military Focus Act is an important and necessary step to push back against the progressive agenda at the Department of Defense. This Act will repeal Sec. 913 of the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) as well as the following:
- Eliminate the position of Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer appointed by the Secretary of Defense.
- Eliminate the Senior Advisor for Diversity and Inclusion appointed by the Secretary of each military department.
- Prohibit the use of federal funds to establish a Chief Diversity Officer or a Senior Advisor for Diversity and Inclusion at the Department of Defense Not only are these positions a waste of hard earned tax-payers dollars, but they also undermine and distract from the purpose of the U.S. military.
