WASHINGTON — Today, Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks and 199 of his Republican colleagues sent a letter to congressional leaders pledging to oppose any government funding bill that eliminates or weakens the Hyde Amendment or other current-law, pro-life appropriations provisions.
The Hyde amendment is a four decade-old ban on taxpayer-funded abortions that has suddenly been placed on the chopping block by radical Democrats, despite the fact that it’s received bipartisan support from every president since Jimmy Carter and even Joe Biden expressed support for it as recently as 2019.
Chairman @RepJimBanks led 199 of his colleagues in a pledge to #SaveHyde.
If you believe taxpayers should NEVER be forced to fund abortions, take the pledge to #SaveHyde. pic.twitter.com/9FRRh6fSPy

For over 40 years, Congress upheld the ban on taxpayer-funded abortions. But the new Radical Left wants to change that.
Big thanks to my 199 colleagues who signed @RepublicanStudy's pledge to oppose legislation that weakens or end the Hyde Amendment. #SaveHyde pic.twitter.com/RJF53jy4vW

The Hyde Amendment has maintained overwhelming bipartisan support for 40+ years.
Every president since Jimmy Carter has supported it, including Joe Biden.
Now, radical Democrats want it gone.
