Sen. Rick Scott: Joe Biden is Killing the American Dream, Inflation Crisis Continues to Rage

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, following the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Senator Rick Scott released the below statement highlighting the need to implement substantive fiscal reforms to end the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by the Biden administration’s tax-and-spend agenda. September’s CPI data shows that there has been a notable increase in inflation every month of Biden’s presidency. Year over year consumer prices increased 5.4% in September—the highest it has been since January of 1991.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Joe Biden and Democrats are leading our nation down a dark economic path of fewer jobs, higher prices and less opportunity. The question is, how many months will Joe Biden’s complete ignorance go on before he realizes his socialist agenda is killing our economy and hurting American families? I grew up poor, and watched as my parents struggled to stretch every penny to support our family. Now, we’re seeing families all across America deal with that same hardship. I’m hearing from Florida families and businesses every day. They’re worried. They’re worried about not being able to afford to put food on the table when surging gas and food prices make budgets even tighter. They’re worried their own government is working against their best interests with overreaching socialist policies that take their choice and opportunity away. Joe Biden’s presidency has been an unmitigated disaster for families and businesses. He has failed them over and over. The American people have had enough. I won’t let Joe Biden and his systemic socialism kill the American Dream.”

According to today’s CPI release, all price increases over the year in September were:

  • Gas prices: +42.1%
  • Utilities: +8.5%
  • Food: +4.6%
  • Transportation: +4.4%
  • Rent: +3.2%

Since being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Scott has repeatedly urged action to address America’s debt crisis and the harmful effects of inflation:
