WASHINGTON – Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) issued a statement on the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget’s (CRFB) estimate that the Democrats’ Reckless Tax and Spend bill would cost $4.9 trillion if certain provisions were made permanent.
Graham has previously noted the Reckless Tax and Spend bill includes arbitrary sunset dates for several costly provisions in order to make the cost of the bill appear less expensive.
“One of the most highly respected budget organizations has just released their findings on Build Back Better. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates that the bill’s realistic cost is $4.9 trillion.
“I have found this group to be honest brokers over a long period of time and they have enjoyed respect from both sides of the aisle. Their analysis makes perfect sense. We will not let the falsehood that this bill is paid for go unchallenged.
“I believe that the bill is a fraud on the American people in terms of actual cost and will be an inflation enhancer by expanding government.”
